Yogyakarta, June 21, 2026 – Kelana Himpunan Mahasiswa Pariwisata (HIMAPA), Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Gadjah Mada University successfully conducted Kelana Discovery Journey (KENDI), an event titled “Summer Beach Picnic: Heal by the Shore,” on Sunday, 21 June 2026. The event was held at Cemara Sewu Beach, Parangtritis, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. This activity constitutes part of the annual work program of the Kelana Division within HIMAPA UGM and was structured as an open-trip format grounded in the principles of wellness tourism. The event was attended by approximately 19 participants, comprising both Universitas Gadjah Mada students and members of the general public, reflecting the program’s aim of fostering cross-community engagement through experiential and restorative tourism practices.

Kelana Discovery Journey was conceived in response to evolving tourism preferences among younger generations, who increasingly seek travel experiences that extend beyond visual appeal to encompass opportunities for social interaction, self-expression, and relaxation. Through the theme “Summer Beach Picnic: Heal by the Shore,” Kelana Division of HIMAPA UGM offered participants a restorative respite from the pressures of academic life and end-of-semester examinations. The program integrated elements of healing, artistic expression, and educational travel within a single cohesive activity.

The sequence of activities commenced with a Beach Healing Session, in which participants were given free time to take photos, explore Cemara Sewu Beach, followed by a participant introduction and the distribution of welcome drinks, snacks, and merchandise. The event then proceeded to a Mini Creative Workshop, featuring a canvas painting session facilitated directly by members of Kelana HIMAPA UGM. Participants are permitted to keep their finished artworks they made as a memento of the event. As the afternoon progressed, the program continued with a Sharing Session led by a Kelana member and founder of Nashflow.id, a business specializing in pipe flower bouquets. Conducted in the form of an intimate discussion, this session examined the process of transforming a personal hobby into a viable business venture. Set against the relaxed coastal atmosphere of Cemara Sewu Beach, the session offered participants meaningful insight into converting creative interests into economically sustainable pursuits. The program concluded with a group documentation before participants returned to the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, UGM.

Beyond its recreational and educational value, Kelana Discovery Journey also functions as a practical training ground for the Kelana Division of HIMAPA UGM in organizing open-trip programs. Through this initiative, members gain direct experience in trip conceptualization, participant coordination, activity scheduling, and on-site execution. In this respect, KENDI serves a dual purpose: it offers participants a meaningful journey while simultaneously providing Kelana members with a hands-on learning platform for developing competencies in tour package management.

Furthermore, the Kelana Discovery Journey (KENDI) contributes to the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supports SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) through its wellness tourism approach, which assists participants in managing academic-related stress. It advances SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the Mini Creative Workshop and Sharing Session, both of which impart knowledge in art, culture, and entrepreneurship. Additionally, it reflects SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through the collaborative engagement among Kelana HIMAPA UGM, Nashflow.id, and the management of Cemara Sewu Beach.
