The synergy and collaboration established in Sembrani Tourism Village proved rewarding for the Student Association’s Capacity Building Program of Tourism Student Association (PPK Ormawa HIMAPA) team and the residents of Sembrani Village. The team successfully advanced through the visitation stage for the 2024 Abdidaya Ormawa candidates. The visitation is part of an appreciation program by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Research for student organization teams, lecturers, and village partners involved in community empowerment. The visitation marks a significant milestone, serving as tangible proof of the team’s long journey and reinforcing the role of students as agents of transformation of national development through village empowerment, incorporating agro-tourism and education-based tourism innovations.
The visitation conducted on October 9, 2024, was attended by a reviewer from the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) who was accompanied by Ismail Basuki as a university assistant along with one facilitator. During this event, Mohamad Rachmadian Narotama, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., the accompanying lecturer, participated in the visitation activities. Also present were Giman, the head of Watusigar village, along with the Watusigar Tourism Village community. In addition, partners from the Gunungkidul Tourism Office, represented by Jarwo and Erlangga, as well as volunteer tourism village mentor and members of the Communication Forum for Tourism Awareness Groups (Forkom Pokdarwis) of Gunungkidul Regency also take part in this visitation.
“With the support of partners, what has been conveyed is good. Those from the tourism office were able to attend as well. It signifies that the program is truly supported by various layers of society, agencies, and collaboration from numerous parties. I hope that the program, which has already been implemented, will benefit the community and continue to develop in its second year,” stated the Belmawa Reviewer, sharing messages and hopes with the team and community members. “This represents not only the fulfillment of the 17th SDG goal—partnerships to achieve shared objectives—but also the implementation of the 4th (quality education) and 8th (decent work and economic growth) SDG goals.”
During this activity, the Belmawa Team from the Ministry of Education, Research, and Technology also visited Sentra Pembibitan Kampung Hortikultura Cikal (Nursery Center), Rumah Produksi Pupuk Merti Pertiwi (Fertilizer Production House) and Bank Sampah Kenanga (Waste Bank) in Resan Watusigar, as well as handing over souvenirs. The main agenda of the visit was to verify the data alignment from reviewers to the target groups/communities, with the visitation questionnaires, and logbooks.
Ferdian Dwi Saputra, the team’s chief executive, stated that their goal for Abdidaya Ormawa 2024 is to attain the highest sustainability category. “We believe that through this visitation, the synergy and collaborative efforts from various parties will enhance the visibility and impact of Sembrani Tourism Village. “Of course, we are also hopeful for the best outcome for the PPK Ormawa HIMAPA team at the upcoming Abdidaya awards. We wish to be the champion,” Ferdian added on Thursday (10/10).
